Below are resources and products I love that I’ve used myself and recommend to clients to help them increase their energy.

(Please note that I earn a small commission for recommending these products. When you click on a Buy Now button you’ll be taken to Amazon to complete the transaction. Any supplements I recommend are not practitioner quality supplements that I usually recommend to clients. They are the next best thing I can suggest to those who want to use supplements without working with me and getting a prescription. Remember that even though supplements are a natural medicine, they do carry risks. Always use your own discretion in taking them, let your GP know what you’re taking and follow label instructions.)

This book shares a wealth of information about adrenal dysfunction and how to restore your energy using nutrition, lifestyle strategies and supplementation. The stage of adrenal dysfunction you’re at will determine which protocol is best, which you can identify using the quiz in this book. If you only want one book on this topic, get this one. Dr Christianson is one of my naturopathic doctor idols (yes that’s kinda geeky, but I don’t care!).

All of your hormones work very closely together, and often fatigue isn’t just a result of adrenal dysfunction. For example, it can be due to poor thyroid function, as well as low oestrogen. Sara Gottfried is a holistic medical doctor who specialises in hormonal health for women. This book will help you understand which of your hormones are out of balance, and give you evidence based strategies to get them in check again.

If you’ve been around me for a while, you know I love green smoothies! There are a few nutritional powders I add to my smoothies – and Vital Greens is often one of them. Yes it’s a little pricey, though a little goes a long way and it’s packed full of nutrition as well as probiotics and enzymes. It also tastes great just mixed with water.

A body under stress requires more vitamin C, particularly as the adrenal glands use vitamin C to make steroid hormones like adrenalin and cortisol. I like Blackmore’s Bio C as it also contains bioflavonoids that make vitamin C act more powerfully in your body.

Zinc is a critically important mineral for more than 300 functions in the body. This highly bio-available zinc powder is a fast and effective way to top up zinc stores.

This supplement has a blend of nutrients and adaptogenic herb Rhodiola to help those who are feeling tired and stressed.

I’m a big fan of Pukka teas – especially this delicious blend of herbs that help you drift off into a relaxing sleep.

Eckhart Tolle’s book gave me my first profound and liberating experience of being in the present, and letting go of thinking that was draining me, during a hugely stressful time in my life. If you haven’t read it yet, get your mitts on it now! You won’t regret it.

This is one of the best books I’ve read on psychology, emotional resilience and mindfulness that greatly influenced my life and my work. And I know – it’s a book about confidence! Dr Harris explains why we think the way we do, how to deal with fear, failure and flaws that keep us drained and stagnated, and delivers practical strategies to help you move past limiting thoughts and feelings.

Dr James Wilson first coined the term Adrenal Fatigue and identified it as the “21st Century Syndrome” – a result of long term stress from a fast paced, modern life. This book is a treasure trove of information in an easy to read format, and gives practical solutions for getting your energy back.

Some women, upon further investigation of persisting fatigue, get diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis – an autoimmune condition. If you’ve had a Hashimoto’s diagnosis, this book is a must read. Getting to the root cause of WHY you have a disease is an essential step in the healing journey. Once you identify and address the root cause, your body can start bringing itself back into balance. Izabella covers the evidence based strategies to show you how.

Most of us need more magnesium, as our food and diet tends to be lacking in this important mineral. These magnesium bath flakes will leave you feeling so blissed out after you use them. Simply soak in a bath with a cup of these flakes for 20 minutes, ideally 2-3 times per week, and you’ll feel more relaxed, sleep better and have more energy.

This gel is a fast and effective way to increase your magnesium stores, without needing to take a supplement. Simply rub the gel on your body after your shower each day, and you’re good to go!

This product contains a lovely blend of herbs to help you fall asleep more quickly and have a longer, more restful sleep.

Matcha green tea is a great replacement for coffee, as it will give you a boost of energy, yet without the jittery energy that coffee can give. This is due to its l-theanine content – an amino acid that has a calming effect without leaving you drowsy, so you feel energised yet calm.  You only need about 1/2 tsp of the powder per cup, and it can be served just with warm water or whatever milk/mylk you use in your coffee or tea. If it’s a bit bitter, add a smidgen of honey.
